Long established Thames based piling and dredging Company, Riverworks Ltd, are pleased to announce the launch of their new purpose built barge ‘Hercules’ to join their extensive fleet of piling barges and road transportable barges.

Built by Riverworks in Shepperton Marina and fully inspected and approved during build by a naval architect.  The new barge is available to carry out contracts on the upper and lower reaches of the Thames.  The specification of a 5.2 m beam was agreed being the maximum width capable of passing through all Thames Locks whilst providing good stability.

The all steel rig is 15 m x 5.2 m complete with 40 t/m Bonfiglioli knuckle boom crane with a 14 metre reach on the hiab.  The barge has a 40 ton hold capacity and full workshop facilities.

Due to winter lock closures the barge was transported by Interboat Transport to be craned in to the water at Reading ready to carry out its first contract at Thames & Kennet Marina.  The works involved undertaking refurbishment for Walcon Marine driving 14 metre long steel tubes for the new pontoon system.
